Wing Haven | Wing Haven has been a special part of Charlotte since its creation in 1927. Three acres of lovely vistas, formal gardens, and controlled wilderness open to all who wander its paths. This sanctuary for wild birds and animals is set up for the education of the general public on horticulture and wildlife subjects and to stimulate interest in the beautification of the geographic area. |

Soft Shell Crabs | We first talk with Jerry Gault of J & D Enterprises. Here we are told everything you want to know about soft shell crabs. Next in Beaufort, we take some of the crabs from Jerry Gault over to Bistro Dejong. Owner and head chef Peter Dejong cooks us a meal made from these crabs. |

Lisa Wagner, director of education, talks about the Heritage Garden, native plants, earth sculptures, and educational programs. |

The South Carolina Aquarium | Located in Charleston, SC, the Aquarium features Southern aquatic plants and animals from the five major regions of the Appalachian Watershed as found in South Carolina: the Mountains, the Piedmont, the Coastal Plain, the Coast, and the Ocean. |

Dempsey Farms U-Pick | This operation on St. Helena Island, SC, shows Making It Grow! its vegetable gardens that are open for the public to harvest. Davey Dempsey, third generation farmer, shows us his unique grape tomatoes and explains how we can sucker our own tomatoes. Dempsey Farms also grows strawberries, green beans, sweet corn, and many other types of vegetables. |

MIG Heritage Vacation | First on our stop is The U.S. National Arboretum. F. Brian Smith learns about the importance and the history, of the current and new exhibits of the Arboretum. We meet up with Rowland at Mt. Vernon, the home of America’s first president. Rowland visits George Washington’s Pioneer farm. Next, the co-hosts of our show head over to Monticello, where they are given tours of Thomas Jefferson’s fruit and vegetable gardens. Moving across Virginia, Busch Gardens Williamsburg has been recognized for its beauty in horticulture and for its wildlife preserve for endangered animals. Our final destination is the old-time charm of Colonial Williamsburg. |

Andrian Bazemore, manager at the center, walks us through the lush gardens that are full of southern horticultural staples arranged in an oriental setting. The rock gardens located in the interior of the center’s Restaurant Yagoto create an allusion to the famous Ryoan-ji garden in Kyoto. |

Foliage Plants | Hermann Engelmann Greenhouses in Orlando, FL, supplies its Exotic Angel plants and flowers to popular gardening centers such as Lowe's and Wal-Mart. Rowland talks with the director of customer service, Dana Wagner, about the 260 different varieties of exotic plants. Then, Rowland gets a tour with Location Manager, Jeff Cawn, who shows us some of their featured foliage plants such as passion plants and variegated ivies. |
